Radikal Forze Jam

I’m part of Radikal Forze, one of Singapore’s pioneering b-boy crews. Since 2008, we’ve run our annual anniversary event consistently — over 15 years strong, pausing only for the pandemic before coming back stronger.

Context

We’ve represented Singapore on global stages like Battle of the Year in Montpellier, France (one of the world’s biggest b-boy comps), Respect 16 in Korea, and Circle Prinz in Japan. Beyond events, we’ve run art exchange programs, including a project I’m especially proud of: partnering with Start India and the Singapore Tourism Board to head to Mumbai, teaching breaking and sharing stories from our dance community.

Role:

Event Organizer/Artist Liaison/Community leader

In 2008, this is where it begun.

It started with just a bunch of guys wanting to celebrate their 10 year crew aniversary but it quickly grew. The issue was always how do we keep this event alive so that we could build the dance community in SG. Fortunately, as years pass, our crew grew. Fast forward today. Post-COVID, we brought back our event bigger than ever — RF Jam 2023 in Da Nang, Vietnam, drawing thousands from around the world and earning coverage from VICE Asia and Complex, reaching millions.

Keeping the torch burning

As culture pioneers in Singapore’s dance scene, we carry the responsibility of keeping this community alive and thriving. We pride ourselves in educating the young dancers to train hard and connect them with people across the borders so that they can go into the international platforms. I truly believe dance is the whole reason of my being.

It's more than that...

Without it, i wouldn’t have learnt about being confident, being unapologetically myself , travelled to various countries, gain experiences at such a young age. Therefore the reason why i want to keep it alive it to give the youngins’ a reason to keep going, a platform and showcase that talent does exist here in this little red dot. This isn’t just a hobby. It’s a lifestyle.
